Hallo Sacha,

Wow, prachtige foto's!

Laplanduil: Niets op aan te merken, prachtige blik en hele mooie vleugelhouding (ik hoop dat ik zelf ook zoiets heb). Witbalans is wellicht iets aan de warme kant, maar dat is persoonlijke smaak.

Chili Arend: Lekkere blik, gewoon een goed portret.

Konijnuiltje: Prachtig, clean shot. Ook hier weer een mooie, intense blik. Ook hier is de witbalans mogelijk iets aan de warme kant.

De foto's dien er allemaal mooi scherp uit, heel netjes. Van dit soort foto's wordt ik helemaal blij

P.S. Je eerdere bericht was per ongeluk aangemaakt als personal message aan mij. Super leuk overigens om te horen dat het je zo was bevallen

Allereerst, WOW! Zeer goed gelukte foto's

Korte feedback per foto:

• Landende Oehoe: Ziet er netjes scherp uit en ook qua compositie zit het goed. Als ik dan al wat verbeterpunten moet noemen zou voor mij de achtergrond nog wat waziger hebben gemogen (dus nog iets groter diafragma), maar dan loop je wel weer het risico dat de vogel zelf ook niet meer helemaal scherp is. Blijft altijd een afweging. Als er nog wat meer ruimte links is, zou je ook kunnen proberen om 'm anders te croppen en minder rechts over te laten, wellicht dat dat de compositie nog beter maakt.
• Kalkoengier: Wow, vind ik zelf altijd een van de lastigere vogels om goed te fotograferen; de kop bijt snel uit. Dat is hier niet echt het geval. Nice! Ook hier had iets minder scherptediepte de achtergrond wat waziger kunnen maken (maar zie mijn opmerking bij vorige punt). In de nabewerking misschien nog even de verzadiging (of vibrance) wat verhogen om de kleuren iets meer te laten spreken (houd het wel subtiel).
• Woestijnbuizerd: Ook al een heel goed gelukte vluchtfoto! Misschien dat hier het dier meer naar links in het frame e.e.a. nog verbeterd, maar ik moet zeggen dat ie zo eigenlijk ook al goed werkt.
• Alaska zee-arend: Mooi portret van Homer! Vind het halve vlies over zijn oog eigenlijk wel grappig, juist omdat het allemaal zo scherp is, is dat wel een mooi voorbeeld van hoe het oog van een vogel in elkaar zit.
• Chili arend: Mooie zachte achtergrond (net als bij Homer trouwens). De houding is a-typisch en dat maakt het, wat mij betreft, een goed portret!

Echt prachtige foto's, bedankt voor het delen (voel je vrij om meer moois te posten!)

P.S. Feedback is altijd een  persoonlijke mening, voel je vooral vrij om deze te negeren of om het er niet mee eens te zijn!

Hi Rob,

Super, dank voor het posten van je foto's. Zoals altijd, weer een stel fijne beelden!

Wat korte feedback:

• Beer met bot: Nice, goede “actie”. Denk dat de witbalans iets minder magenta mag hebben
• Beer met tak: gewoon leuk
• Beren in sneeuw: echt prachtig, hooguit iets te dicht tegen de rechterkant
• Beren in sneeuw II: ook goed (vorige heeft wel meer “impact”), ook deze kan misschien iets minder magenta WB hebben.
• Lynx: traditionele houding en sfeer, prima
• Lynx II: lekker in het zonnetje, maar hier vind ik de compositie toch wat minder lekker
• Lynx strekkend in de ochtend zon: heerlijk gevoel, lekkere werking van het licht
• Wolf portret: mooie wolf
• Wolf aan de wandel: lekkere blik! heb hier ook weer het gevoel dat de WB wat minder magenta mag hebben
• Otter I: ondanks de spiegeling in het water vind ik deze toch wel wat saai
• Otter II: JA, dit is lekker. Heerlijk beeld

Zoals ik al zei: weer en lekkere serie beelden. Wordt nu toch eens tijd dat ik aan de mijne ga beginnen… (nog geen tijd voor gehad in verband met andere werkzaamheden)

Since the bear cubs didn't really show themselves on our workshop visit in May, we decided to visit them once again in June.

Because it was quite hot outside, the bears spent a lot of time hidden away inside their cave where it was cooler. A couple of times a day they would all come out to play though so waiting patiently all day always paid off in the end!

Thanks for posting! A different view on the station, again. Nice

Some feedback:

• Stairs and main passage way – Nice, apart from that silly photographer in the middle
• Mirrored – Interesting, amplifies the forms, I think
• Main passage – Good symmetry, like the two people on the bench adds some human interest while still maintaining symmetry
• Railway – This works well for me
• Lift – Awesome, the very best of this batch, now why haven't I seen this one myself?

Hopefully this encourages you to post more soon

Awesome!

• Platforms: very nice indeed. WB-wise, I think it's a bit on the magenta side, but that's about it.
• Roof: Beautiful! I wish I had done a shot like this 
• Garage: I like this one very much, better than my own
• Outside with tower: Here I like the very nice forms and leading lines, well spotted, would have liked to have taken this one myself!
• Roof2: Yep!
• Outside front: lovely, like the colours! (this is how the weather should have been all day: sunny with some clouds)

Hi Rob,

Beautiful!

(Note: I'm sure more will fit if you resize them to e.g. 800 pixels max, also the jpg quality can be kept quite low before it really becomes obvious, I think I'm even down to something like 30 percent).

Some feedback:

• Stairs: Beautiful, very similar to my own .
• Outside: Here I like the combination of the railway station and the Tour Paradis building.
• See through: Also nice. The Tour Paradis building itself would actually warrant a visit on it own, but alas I spent all time on the railway station alone already…
• Platform: I really like the legs sticking out, great composition!
• Outside: This images shows off some of the nice forms of the station really well.

Very nice indeed!

Post processing-wise, the only thing I can say is that some are a little bit on the dark side. I think this is because your monitor is set a little bit too bright (like most displays; when looking at the images at another display than my fully calibrated photography display, the “darkness” is much less obvious). Oh, and I spotted a sensor spot on nr 16 (top left)

(PS: I split off this post so it is easier to follow feedback etc.)

Liège / Luik / Visit to the the Liège-Guillemins railway station

With a group of photography enthusiasts we visited the Liège-Guillemins railway station in August (thank you, Carlo, for the suggestion!). The architect of the station is none other than Santiago Calatrava (yes, the one from Valencia) so one can expect grand architecture with beautiful forms. Here a a couple of the images I took.

Hallo Ingrid, dank voor het posten van je foto's! Post er gerust meer (in je album staan ook hele mooie!).

Hieronder wat feedback op deze serie:

• Konijnuiltje: Goede actie, wel een beetje “smack in the middle”, probeer met croppen een iets spannender uitsnede te krijgen, bijvoorbeeld staand, met uiltje aan bovenkant. Wel jammer dat ie wat van boven is geschoten, maar verder zeker lekkere actie! Qua nabewerking vind ik 'm wat aan de donkere kant (geldt eigenlijk voor de meeste van de foto's hier).
• Eng beest: Leuke vogel, maar dat andere beest
• Lanner valken: Mooie houding, zou 'm wat verder uitsnijden zodat de rechterkant (waar nu niets interessants staat) wegvalt.
• Kerkuil: NICE! Wat mij betreft de absolute topper van deze serie Prachtig die beweging in de vleugels en dat met de kop nog helemaal scherp, heel goed! Hooguit jammer van de boomstam, die ziet er onnatuurlijk uit zo (maar ja, die was daar natuurlijk wel), misschien dat je met croppen nog wat kunt bereiken, maar zo is de foto natuurlijk al helemaal top!
• Uilen: Prachtige sfeer! Toch een voordeel van een  mistige ochtend Probeer eens of een staande uitsnede van de kerkuil alleen nog beter werkt.
• Oehoe: Mooie landing, hooguit de vleugels iets te dicht bij de rand (links en rechts), zou ze er zelf juist een stukje af croppen, krijgt de kop gelijk ook meer impact.
• Kalkoenrgier: Vind ik zelf altijd lastig om “mooi” te fotograferen. Ik vind dit een hele goede oplossing, een mooie norse blik! Moet ik zelf ook eens proberen zo te maken!

Wow, nice! Thanks for updating your post with the post processed version of the lighthouse. I like it very much!

Feedback on the other images:

• Landing Gannet: Good action shot, sharp and I like the sea weed in its beak (adds to the image). I don't mind the cropped off left wing at all. Perhaps the composition would improve even further if you crop off some of the top and give some more room at the bottom.
• Pebble: Different! With the strings of seaweed it is almost as if the pebble is towed by the sand hill
• Seal: Great composition, I like the V-shape a lot. Compositionally perhaps move the seal a bit to the bottom and leave more room at the top, but that would be all.
• Sand track: This is perhaps my favourite, a really strong composition with nice lines

Nice, good that the whole tower is visible! Compositionally perhaps the only thing that I'd like even better would be to have some room after the final house on the right. But as it is now works too though you might try it with the cropping a bit off (e.g., up to the chimney) the right to see if that improves it even more.

Post processing-wise, I actually played with it a bit myself and even with the JPG (working on the raw file would work even better), I think I was able to get a lot more out of the image. I would mainly brighten the shadows and increase vibrance and saturation (a lot); that will bring out more of the beautiful sky we actually saw. If you agree, I look forward to see the results of your post processing!

PS. We want to see more, you had some real beauties

Excellent! Very nice images

Some feedback on the individual images (and as always, feel free to disagree )

1. Couple. I like this one very much. Nice interaction of the two birds and it looks absolutely sharp to me
Normally I don't really like square images, but here it works very well.

2. Flight. Good shot, the only thing I'd like to change here would be the white balance; it feels a bit too magenta-ish. Also perhaps crop it so it becomes 3x2?

3. Take off. Nice pose, pity you got the tail touching the left side (the bottom is a bit tight too, but that's not such a big issue). Definitely crop this one 3x2 to put slightly more emphasis on the direction of the take off (to the right).

4. Landing. Beautiful! If you feel up to it, try to get rid of the background bird in the tail, the half bird in the background I'd definitely remove. Perhaps also make the image a little bit brighter.

5. Fight. Always a good show with these birds This one I'd make a bit brighter, and perhaps the white balance needs some adjusting too (less magenta?)

But to sum it up: very nice indeed (feel free to post more, also of Inge!)

Two great poses of the birds!

For the first one, I would rather have more “room” (crowded landing place) on the left instead of the right, but the illustration of the difficult landing environment for the Gannets is awesome. What I especially like about this image is that it is a side shot; most of the landing shots I have are front shots (like the second).

Your second image is again a great illustration of the tough landing conditions of the Gannets. Beautiful wing pose!
