Last pictures before we head out to Curacao and St.Maarten for 2 weeks

Cogs => you were right, the highlights were washed out. It should be much better now.
Turbine => cropped, quick fix.
Last new one => Iny and I actually disagree on this one. I totally love it, she believes I can do much better...the truth is somewhere in the middle

Good improvements.

My view on your last one:

• Rusty part: I like the idea of the composition (simple details are sometimes the best) and look of the rust. Not too sure about the composition though; it feels somewhat unbalanced to me (too close to the top?). Not sure what you could do to improve this though…

I'm back to view your next images...

Many new ones here since my last visit !!
Many new ones that I like a lot, between others the 2148 (if you sharpen the teeth a little bit) , and also the 2283 in which I love the mood you created in it, the 2400 I like it but the chair should not be so centered.
The taps are awsome, you captured them in a wonderful light !!
For the 2584, I agree with what Hayo writes, this subject is difficult to handle and a balanced composition is problematic...
I have none myself of this subject.

Hi Pol,

Thanks again for the comments. I do have an additional idea for the taps for any future photographer (might be me): If you would change the viewpoint more to the right and lower in such a way that the taps would still be diagonally lined up but behind the window, this would even be a nicer picture.

I'm not sure if I would push the chair further to the left, it is already off center and needs some clearance from the edge.
For the last picture (2584) ...yep...it will stay very difficult to capture large objects which contain too many small objects and still create some sort of "one object" feel to it. However, it should not stop us from trying

Here's a couple of more photos I redid a couple of times now I'm getting a better feel/style for HDR.

Hi GJ,

Stop spoiling me with your great images 

Love 'm! Here's some feedback:

• Tower top: Love the repetition. Colours me use a bit of tweaking as I find them a bit muddy?
• Cog wheels: Very good. This is an example where you have simplified enough to make it a great looking image. The arcs of the bramble bushes finishes it off.
• Detail: Nice, well balanced. Simple but still elegant.
• Blue: Great composition. Just try to get rid of the blur in the leaves.
• Wood 1 & Wood 2: Work well, but are less special than some of your others, I think.
  I always try similar shots myself too. they never seem to make it to my portfolio though…

Tower top => agreed, the HDR washed out the colors too much. I have toned it down a bit and redid the crop
Blue => unfotunately those leaves were out of focus (even with F8!!) I have recropped the image to get rid of the blurry leaves.
Wood => I think the wood could work but only in combination with blistered paint and such.

Hi GJ,

Hmm, I don't think either of your new versions is a real improvement, to be honest…

• Tower top: colours can use (a lot) more pop now, also not 100% sure if the composition is an improvement.
• Blue: If it wasn't movement that caused the blurriness, I'd try to clone/heal the leaves to remove them, cropping is too drastic; I liked the old crop much better.

But as always, please feel encouraged to disagree
